How does Cipro work and what pharmaceutical group does it belong to?
Cipro is an fluoroquinolone antibiotic with a broad spectrum of action. The drug exerts bactericidal effect. It works by inhibiting the DNA-gyrase of the bacterial cells thus interfering in DNA replication and synthesis of bacterial proteins. The drug affects the bacterial cells on all stages of development including replication and intra-replication phases.

- Sensory organs: taste changes, vision impairment, ear ringing, decreased hearing
- Cardiovascular system: tachycardia, heart rate disorders, leukocytosis, thrombocytosis, hemolytic anemia
- Urogenital system: hematuria, crystalluria, dysuria, glomerulonephritis, polyuria, urine retention, albuminemia, interstitial nephritis
- Locomotor: arthralgia, arthritis, tendovaginitis, myalgia, ligament rupture
