How does generic Flovent work and what pharmaceutical group does it belong to?

Generic Flovent rotahaler contains Fluticasone propionate in the form inhaled powder. In recommended doses the medication possesses a potent anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic action that leads to a decrease in symptoms and frequency of exacerbations of diseases associated with airway obstruction (asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema).

Fluticasone propionate inhibits proliferation of mast cells, eosinophils, lymphocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, reduces the production and release of inflammatory mediators and other biologically active substances (histamine, prostaglandins, leukotrienes, cytokines).

Which conditions are treated with generic Flovent rotahaler?

• Anti-inflammatory therapy of bronchial asthma
• Treatment of chronic obstructive lung disease in adults

What should a patient know before using generic Flovent?

The generic Flovent should not be used in cases of:

• Acute bronchospasm
• Asthmatic status
• Bronchitis of non-asthmatic origin
• Children
• Hypersensitivity to the medication ingredients
• Pregnancy
• Breastfeeding

The medication should be used with caution in: liver cirrhosis, glaucoma, hypothyroidism, systemic infections (bacterial, fungal, parasitic, viral), osteoporosis, lung tuberculosis, cataracts

Which adverse effects may manifest when using the medication?

The side effects of generic Flovent include:

• Infections of the upper respiratory system
• Throat irritation
• Headache
• Sinus infection
• Thrush
• Vomiting
• Fever
• Voice change
• Coughing

Less common Flovent side effects include: stomach pain, runny nose, diarrhea, decreased salivation, weight gain, muscle pain, bone pain, muscle stiffness, dizziness, infections of the urinary system

The drug is affected by the following:

• Certain antibiotics
• Certain antifungals
• Protease inhibitors
