How does Qvar generic work and what pharmaceutical group does it belong to?

Generic Qvar contains the active ingredient Beclomethasone dipropionate which is coerticosteroid for inhalation use. Beclomethasone dipropionate is a prodrug that has a weak affinity to glucocorticoids receptors. Under the action of esterases, it is converted into an active metabolite - beclomethasone-17-monopropionate (B-17-MP), which possesses a potent local anti-inflammatory effect. Beclomethasone relives inflammation by reducing the formation of chemotactic substances, inhibits the development of allergic reaction of immediate type and improves mucociliary transport. Beclomethasone decreases the number of mast cells in bronchial mucosa, reduces swelling of the epithelium, mucus secretion by bronchial glands, bronchial hyperreactivity, edge aggregation of neutrophils, the inflammatory exudate and production of lymphokines. Action mechanism is also associated with inhibiting the migration of macrophages, reduction the intensity of infiltration and granulation processes .

What should a patient know before using Qvar generic?

The Qvar generic should not be used in cases of:

  • Children under 4 years of age
