How does Ovral work and what pharmaceutical group does it belong to?

The preparation contains 2 active ingredients which in combination are used in pregnancy prevention. Ovral prevents ovulation as well as changes the viscosity of the cervical mucous thus making it difficult for the sperm to penetrate and for the fertilized egg to implant.

Which conditions are treated with Ovral?

The preparation is prescribed to prevent unwanted pregnancy.

What should a patient know before using Ovral?

The Ovral should not be used in cases of:

• Blood clotting disorders
• Cerebrovascular disorders
• Cardiovascular problems
• Liver disease
• Tumors
• Vaginal bleeding of unknown origin
• Pregnancy
• Lactation period
• Breast cancer
• Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation

Which adverse effects may manifest when using the medication?

The side effects of Ovral include:

• Acne
• Dizziness
• Nausea and vomiting
• Fatigability
• Weakness
• Breast pain, tenderness and etc.
• Stomach pain, bloating
• Gain or loss of body hair
• Weight change
• Changes in sexual life

Severe side-effects include:

• Changes in the menses pattern
• Migraine s or headaches
• Hypertension
• Vaginal infections
• Depression
• Abdominal swelling, pain and tenderness
