Yasmin is a low doses combined monophasic estrogen-gestagen contraceptive. The contraceptive effect of the preparation is achieved through inhibition of ovulation and change of the viscosity of the cervical mucous, resulting in inability for the spermatozoon's to penetrate it.
In women who take contraceptives the menstrual cycle becomes more regular and menorrhagia is monitored in a low number of cases.
