How does Crestor work and what pharmaceutical group does it belong to?

Crestor is being administered for cholesterol-lowering purposes. The medication works by blocking cholesterol production in the human organism. It reduces the level of low-density lipoproteins and triglycerides and increases the level of high-density lipoprotein. Lowering the levels of cholesterol helps prevent heart diseases, stroke, heart attack and various vascular diseases.

Which conditions are treated with Crestor?

• Hypercholesterolemia
• Family homozygous hypercholesterolemia

What should a patient know before using Crestor?

The medicine should not be used in cases of:

• Liver diseases in active phase
• Kidney dysfunction
• Myopathy
• Pregnancy, lactation period
• Child age and age up to 18
• Hypersensitivity to any of the drug's components
• Must not be administered by women in reproductive age, who do not use contraceptives

Which adverse effects may manifest when using the medication?

The side effects of Crestor include:

• From the central nervous system: headaches, dizziness
• From the gastrointestinal tract: diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain
• From the locomotor system: proteinuria
• Other: asthenia

The drug is affected by the following:
