How does Celecoxib work and what pharmaceutical group does it belong to?

Celecoxib is belongs to a group of drugs called NSAID's or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The drug works by specifically inhibiting of COX-2 - cyclooxygenase-2 thus blocking the inflammatory process. In therapeutic concentrations the preparation does not affect COX-1. The preparation exerts analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic effects.
