How does Zineryt work and what pharmaceutical group does it belong to?

Zineryt is erythomycin-zinc complex; antibacterial preparation for local application. Zineryt possesses anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and comedolytic action. Zineryt contains 2 active ingredients: 1.2% zinc acetate and 4% erythromycin. Erythromycin blocks the synthesis of protein in microbial cells, possessing bacteriostatic action on microorganisms associated with acne: Propionibacteria acne and Streptococcus epidennidis.

Zinc reduces the production of secrets of by sebaceous glands, stabilizes cellular membranes, possesses astringent, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and regenerative action. Zineryt significantly reduces the amount of inflammatory acne elements (papules and pustules) as well as non-inflammatory elements (comedons)

Which conditions are treated with Zineryt?

Zineryt is indicated for the treatment of acne of different severity (in insufficient therapeutic effect of cosmetics and hygienic preparations

What should a patient know before using Zineryt?

The Zineryt should not be used in cases of:

• Hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredients

In recommended dosages Zinyt can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Make sure to let your doctor know if you pregnant or breastfeeding.

Try to avoid contact of the medication with eyes and mucous linings in the nasal and mouth cavity.

Which adverse effects may manifest when using the medication?

The side effects of Zineryt include:

• Burning
• Itching
• Redness
• Edema
• Hives

It is not necessary that the side effects will manifest in an individual but the possibility still exist. For more information please consult your health care provider.

Which groups of drugs or specific preparations may interact with Zineryt?

The drug is affected by the following:

• Topical corticosteroids
• Topical antibiotics
• Topical NSAID's

Tell your doctor about all the herbal preparations as well as prescription drugs that you are currently taking even if they are not on the list.

Important information for the patient: Zineryt is supplied for individual use. Do not use it to treat other conditions not listed in the leaflet. Keep the product out of children reach. Do not reuse any disposable materials if supplied with the preparation.
